It's a double sided problem. First of all the organisers must've been aware that several consecutive matches would destroy the player who reaches to the final so from the beginning they could've add this to the regulations. However from the other side if alireza threatened the organisers to withdraw the game, it is unprofessional of him. This behaviour was seen even more unprofessional by hikaru and his behaviour after losing games and he was a really bad loser in that moment.

Alireza WAS scheduled a break, but they cancelled it because the technical issues delayed the time so much, and they wanted the match on time, so it was cancelled. Obviously Alireza wasn't gonna have any of this stuff because he deserved a break, and both Hikaru and Chesscom are in the wrong here.

Speaking as someone with a disability who needs breaks: humans need breaks, and it’s okay to demand that organizers recognize your humanity and give you a break. It’s also okay to set firm boundaries on this to make sure you are taking care of yourself. Whether or not others understand or agree doesn’t change a person’s needs.

As much as people may hate the truth giving break is not a right thing to do in such large scale matches and if hikaru didn't accept for the break then the hate on hikaru would be in a much more larger scale than what it is right now

@@t-spark No, it is absolutely different. Even contracts can be neglected if you are proven to be under duress when signing them. But was that the case for Nakamura? I think he was under no pressure. At least he could disagree but still play. But as far as I know he agreed for a break.

I kind of wish people would stop hating on Kramnik. Like I get it, his statistics may be a bit bad, and his ways of trying to stop this is questionable. But cheating is a legit problem and he has a big point. Furthermore, he specifically says he’s not accusing anyone, but just wants people to be checked. I have immense respect for Kramnik in both chesswise and even in this. His methods may be wrong, but his point is valid. I’m getting tired of npcs typing “Interesting” or “Let’s do the procedure.” in every goddamn chess video.

His words can end careers, many times aimed at youngsters, with no real discern between genuine concern and his own ego getting the best of him. Now he is malding on twitter about the clash of claims, while many of the things he complains about were directly cause of his actions and attitude.

I think bullet is like 100m, classical is like marathon, etc. They appeal to different audiences, offer different pleasures to spectators and participants, and require significantly different skills, although they belong to the same game/sport "family". I think as modern commercial chess matures we will see the different time controls splitting off into their own worlds more, with elite players specializing in just one control, or perhaps moving from faster to slower to a limited degree over the course of their careers, as runners sometimes do. It is not reasonable or a good idea to expect elite players to be god tier at controls as different as say bullet and rapid, never mind bullet and classical. Nobody is less impressed with Kipchoge because Bolt would beat him over 100m, or vice versa.
